hydra:bad is a Punjabi-born DJ and producer based in Kampala, Uganda. Making beats on FL Studio with his friends in high school in Kampala's emerging scene inspired hydra:bad to pursue music, but it wasn't until he went to college in New Jersey that he began to broaden the scope of his sound. He became acquainted with the SP-404 and began producing music inspired by his producer holy trinity: J DIlla, Madlib, and MF DOOM. His sound is defined by frenetic percussion & cathartic release, and is influenced by genres such as jersey club, kuduro, afrobeat, dub, juke, and jungle. hydra:bad currently resides in Vancouver, where he assists in the operation of Acceleration Radio, a platform for both emerging and established QTBIPOC artists.
